Hello, it seems I have been somewhat neglecting my lil’ole blog… I really don’t know how all those ‘proper’ bloggers manage to do it… keep up with exciting blog posts, wonderful photography, amazingly styled homes and children… not to mention fabulous looking meals! It’s all to much for me… my kids (Just 2 of them… don’t get me started on bloggers with 3, 4, 5, 22 children…) finish school at 2pm which means I have between 8.50am – 1.50pm to work (email, accounts, sew, order materials etc, pack orders, clean/tidy) hence not much bloggin’ gets done… don’t get me started on evenings! I suppose I do have time between 9.30 and 10.30pm… some eveings… maybe I should try to blog then? Nah, life’s to short! Enjoy your time, do what you want with it, lets stop pressuring ourselves 🙂
So, this post is really a post about nothing… I just wanted to post ‘something’ so my blog isn’t stuck on ‘Christmas 2015’ any longer.
Here’s some lovey photographs from someone who can do it all, one of my customers, Mae Gabriel, follow her on Instagram to see more of her amazingness here. Follow me if you want to see lots of teepees, some coffee and ‘stuff’ here 😉
Hello and thanks for visiting, I am really, really late with a Christmas post (ahem) but… it did happen, it was fun but it was also very busy and whilst I do like keeping a blog it kind of falls be the wayside when I have orders to fulfill and a family to keep.
A huge heartfelt thank you to all of the lovely people who ordered a Moozle Teepee / accessories this past year, it really is fantastic that you find Moozle and order from us, as there is such a lot of competition out there now. We are a small family run business in a sea of sharks (it feels like sometimes). It is very important to me to keep my business sustainable and as low impact environmentally as possible, I’m never going to be a millionaire running this business as I will not sell out, I won’t manufacture in China, I won’t buy nonsustainable (cheap) hardwood for my teepee poles, I employ local people to help me out and use biodegrable packaging where possible (looking into eco parcel tape).
I hope and trust you agree with my business ethics and help me to spread the word on my little empire.
I’m going to share some of the comments that have been coming in over the last few weeks, best wishes, Kate.
Hi Kate, I just wanted to truly thank you for the beautiful teepee which arrived in plenty of time for my daughters birthday. Her birthday was on the Tuesday & your teepee arrived the Thursday before!! So efficient! I really didn’t think it would arrive in time, let alone early! Very happy customers! The quality & workmanship is fabulous & your service is second to none. Thanks again. Cheers, Hanna, Tasmania, Australia.
Amazing quality and construction, lots of little last-minute add-ons that seller accommodated with a smile, super fast shipping and it even arrived through customs nearly a week ahead of schedule – thank you so much!! 🙂 Kate, Los Angeles, USA.
Ordered this for my four-year old’s room in our new place, to make him feel at home. It is beautifully crafted, and the materials are all top quality. Kate is a pleasure to work with, and handled a mailing mix-up with grace and speed. I will definitely buy from her again when our baby graduates from a crib to a bed!Dorothy, Washington DC, USA.
Evening all. A VERY quick (the sofa is beckoning) post about this lovely new Map print teepee before they are all sold and this is old news. Only 3 left now! Not sure if I can get hold of more fabric any time soon so grab one whilst you can here… they are causing quite a stir so not expecting them to hang around for long. *Amendment… only 2 left now!!
Above is obviously how I styled it for the listing photos for my Etsy shop… but want to see what the kids did when they got home… ooooh.
Hahaha. Check out Dexies Autumn display in the foreground!
Hello! My Autumn (so far) round up. I love the golden colours of Autumn with these shots of indigo, olive and ecru. My favourite Autumn past time the past few weeks has been apple picking at Fruit Tuin Van West and just look at these gorgeous Apple Roses we made with the harvest bounty! They look so impressive (don’t tell anyone but they are REALLY easy to make, just take a look at this Facebook vid), and taste pretty good too, just serve with a good vanilla ice-cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Don’t forget to tell your dinner guests you spent all afternoon carving the roses for them.
See @katemoozle via instagram for the teepee photos credits above. All teepees from Moozle.
Hello and welcome. Are you considering a room make-over for your little one? Or maybe filing away ideas for the future? Then feast your eyes on the Moozle Top 5 Wallpaper choices for some ideas to steal…
Hello, hello! I am so pleased to be able to share these photos of a design collaboration between Moozle and SCENERY earlier this year. Launched today on the Moozle Etsy shop to coincide with Dutch Design Week.
These will be limited edition pieces so grab one whilst you can!
Hello and welcome. we celebrated a birthday here this week, our Dexie-Pie turned 5! All he asked for was a Lion cake (in honor of his bestest teddy) so after a little think I decided to base it on a teepee design I recently did that you can see here.
The other parent designed the invitations, that we later reworked and made into cupcake toppers. And the end result is as you can see above. The cake took a little time (I’m not the best baker, I certainly wont be applying for ‘Bake-off’ any time soon, or EVER), but looked ok in the end, it lasted all of 30 minutes once the kids arrived back from the trampoline party and then demolished it!
Dex was very happy with the result (happy me) and set-to drawing a cake inspired picture and setting up a still life for me to capture for him (that I’ve now stolen for my blog!!) before his friends arrived.
If anyone would like me to send them a PDF file of the cupcake toppers and invitation design (front side only at the mo, the 5 can be omitted) then please get in touch here.
Hello and thanks for stopping by. My boy turned 5 yesterday! Here in the Netherlands it is tradition for the children to take a treat into school to share with classmates, sugary food is of course not a good idea so fruit is a good alternative. We checked out Pinterest last week for ‘traktatie’ (treat) ideas and Dexie chose a Pirate Ship melon! I was kind of wishing I hadn’t shown him the internet but it’s good to challenge yourself (apparently) so we went shopping for a boat shaped melon at the weekend. Turns out October is not the best time to shop for watermelons in this neck of the world.
Sunday evening I set to (fortified with a glass of Sauvingon) with my carving knife whilst the other parent made the pirate flags (good job one of us is a professional). It takes patience but it’s not that difficult (working out the best way to cut the sails and get them to stay up is the hardest part). So I say, “give this one a go!”.
Thanks to the teacher for taking the class room photos! Better than my grainy efforts. *note to self – take the time to photograph these things better!
Time for coffee and cake now… got a lion cake to make for Sunday!
The lovely interior design show VTwoonenDesignBeurs is currently taking place at Rai in Amsterdam until tomorrow. I visited on Tuesday and had a nice surprise of seeing my BIG Moozle teepees on one of the exhibition stands. It was used to display Covers&Co kids blankets and cushions on the Essenza stand.
I took some photos to give an impression of the show and show some of the ideas and interiors trends coming though. Most of these images were taken on the VTwoonen and Ariadne at Home stands.
Hello Folks and a very happy Friday to you! If you are looking for some weekend reading then check out the new on-line issue of Mutiny Kids Magazine for lots of beautiful Kids Fall fashion images, interviews, product reviews, kids interior inspiration and oh so much more! Well done on the 3rd gorgeous issue Mutiny mamas!
I’m loving the Imagination Celebration shoot with that dreamy tea party set-up! Thanks so much for including the Moozle MIDI teepee.
Hello hello… have you seen the new issue of Hooligan’s Magazine yet? I am thrilled the BIG Moozle teepee got to play a part in their desert shoot for the September issue out now! They shot in 102 degree heat, makes me break into a sweat just thinking about it. But it was worth it – those amazing bright, crisp images! Follow them on Instagram for more Hooligan shenanigans.
“Hooligans is magazine featuring children’s fashion, art and design. This quarterly print publication is full of editorials shot by talented photographers from every corner of the world. We are also highlighting innovative products, the best in interior design and art- all for children!” Purchase your copy via MagCloud.
If you follow Moozle on Instagram you might have spotted the amazingly bright and sunny bedroom of Hooligans contributor Gaylin’s son Jace (also in the shoot above), who has his very own Moozle MIDI teepee. This is how it looks in Jace’s room in sunny Southern California…
Hello and welcome, thanks for stopping by. A little while ago I was contacted by the lovely Nina from the German blog Pinspiration who asked me to design a special teepee for her little boys room makeover.
You can see more images and read all about it (don’t forget to open it in Chrome to translate it to English if you don’t read German) here.
Hello, thanks for stopping by. People often ask me where I draw my inspiration from for my teepee appliques, the truth is it comes from everywhere, from things I see on the street to fashion and interiors I see on-line, here’s a little behind-the-scenes look into what triggered this teepee design I finished yesterday. I saw the above interiors image on Pinterest recently and loved the colour palette so much I wanted to use it in my work, utilising some of my folkart floral applique patterns and matching some of the fabrics from my stash I was able to create a similar palette. I opted for a paler pink in the end which I think works pretty well here and I just love the zesty Kelly green rabbit under the window.
More picture details over on my Etsy store. *This design is now sold but another little floral number in purples and greens has taken it’s place. However, you can still see more photos on the Moozle Flickr pages here.
Hi, don’t forget to pack your Moozle teepee when you go on holiday – that’s what we did on a recent trip to Sardinia, I just took the fabric teepee (folded up it takes hardly any space in your suitcase) and then I picked up 8 bamboo fishing nets for €1.50 each at the local super market and a roll of parcel tape. The bamboo was celo-wrapped in brightly coloured plastic so I peeled it off around the top to have the natural bamboo showing. By taping the bamboo rods together as in the photo above they were quite strong.
Not only pretty in the photos but great extra shade on the beach too.
It was the perfect Sunday afternoon family activity for today… berry picking! The kids loved discovering all of the different varieties, picking (and eating… sssssh, don’t tell) the raspberries, blue berries, logan berries and honing bos (not sure what these are in English), very delicious, kind of sticky to the touch. I’ve never had such fresh blueberries. All these berries were picked right here in Amsterdam for just €8.00.
We are having ours served over Greek yogurt and drizzled with organic honey.
To celebrate reaching 3K followers on Instagram (Whoop Whoop!) and to say ‘thank you’ to all who follow the IG Moozle account, I’ve just launched a teepee GIVEAWAY over there @katemoozle
Get on over to Instagram to enter… go on now go! Good luck!

Hello, hello, thanks for stopping by. If you are familiar with my Moozle applique work, you’ll know I am very inspired by street art, folk art and printed textiles and often use infulences in my work so I was very exctied to spy some lovely urban art works on a trip to London last week. I don’t know any of the artists but if anyone can shed some light please drop me a line so I can add some credits.
Most of these were spotted around Brick lane, Columbia Road and Stoke Newington all in East London.
NO, the matching outfits weren’t planned… but did make us laugh as we left the house. We stayed at my friend, designer Helen Rawlinson‘s lovely house in N16, she does Airbnb so you can stay too if you are lucky.
Last week we went to the beautiful Dutch Tulip gardens, the world famous Keukenhof.
Only open for a few weeks each year, with months and months of planning and planting before hand, it’s no wonder that thousands of people flock from all over the world to visit. I think the photos speak for themselves, but really the place needs to be experienced first hand – the colour around every corner makes your soul lift up and do a little happy dance.
