Crafty Kids

A little while ago we made these cute sleeping bags for small dolls, they fit the Lalaloopsy Mini dolls perfectly! Now she can have sleepover’s or go camping with her friends. I LOVE the little cardboard house Miss Dolly made out of the fruit cartons.

To make the sleeping bag we used 2 different printed cottons to contrast for the inside and outer side of the bag and a piece of thin wadding for the mattress, that was sandwiched between, I doubled it over at the top as a pillow. It’s a good way to use up some scraps of fabric.

If you want to make something similar but for a slightly more bulky doll such as a Pinypon or Sylvanian then I would recommend making your pattern taper outwards to be about 1.5cm wider across the edge that will double back to become the top ‘sheet’.

It was pretty simple to make, the kids did the fabric choosing, cutting and the turning through, I sewed them up on my machine. We made the pattern in card so we can use it again, I find it easlier for the kids to draw around the card than paper, it saves pinning.

We made ours on a rainy play-date, it went down really well as they ‘date’ could take her new doll bed home with her.

You could easily use the same idea and size up for a ‘baby-doll’.
